A rare and wonderful raw silk "Go" or men's
robe from Bhutan. These are similar to the "chuba" robes worn by
Tibetans, with the distinction that in Bhutan the garment is
worn short - at knee level. This one is a fine example the "aikapur",
supplementary warp pattern textile.
The fabric is "wild silk" probably
originating in Assam, an area renowned for fine raw silk. This
robe has a cotton lining that is hand stitched. Condition is
very good to excellent. Belt is not included, but if the buyer
requires one we can provide one.
This is a fine and rare textile that would be
great for collectors or those with a taste for bold and
distinctive fashion. The go remains fully functional and can be
worn.
