Ever wonder what high
Himalayan yak herders use when they are milking their dri
(female yak)?
No?! Well in any case, its time to give it some thought, and as
you probably guessed by now this item illustrates the answer. It
is a classic antique milking pot, carved in the desirable style
typical of the best of the old Himalayan milking pails. It may
come as a surprise to some that there is an identifiable genre
in utilitarian art work here, but indeed there is. This is an
exemplary old milking jug with the curvilinear and geometric
carving over the surface of the pot and handle that are typical
of the more ornate milking jugs. There is also lovely patination
on the handle from years of use.
