This is a wonderful
old piece originating in Rajasthan, Western India. It most
likely represents some character from one of the Hindu epics.
There is a Vaishnav sectarian mark on the forehead but I'm not
sure who the mask is intended to represent. What is sure
is that the mask has a remarkable patina indicating considerable
antiquity. Condition is good overall with minor loss as
would be expected. |
