Detail photos

A fine mask from Nepal's Eastern middle hills region.  It exhibits many of the characteristics that define the pan-Nepali middle hills aesthetic in primitive shamanic masks. It has a moustache fashioned from animal fur and probably had eyebrows as well, though now missing.  Note the dental embellishment.  Now one tooth remains out of four.  The teeth were exaggerated canine style.  The mask was fashioned in the likeness of a "chudel" or "mashan", which are demonic vampire like entities that sometimes come into conflict with humanity. Nice patination and good condition.
