~ Detail Photos ~
This piece originates in Eastern Nepal,
which is notable because stylistically it might seem more a kin
to masks from Nepal's mid-west. It has appealing surface
patination with contrasting light and dark surface patches.
It also once had a moustache and beard, but now all that's left
is the remnants of the pitch adhesive. The mask has a very
convex shape, with the sides of the mask sweeping around the
wearer's face. In short a fine, relatively
minimalist piece, with desirable crusty surface patina.
