~ Detail Photos ~
This is a pair of
fine antique Naga head hunter bracelets. They are a copper alloy
with raised skulls cast into the surface as well as rows of
spikes. These are clearly very old and show advanced signs of
wear and use. Besides being in accord with the "Naga aesthetic",
which is characterized by a pronounced martial orientation,
these also served a defensive purpose in protecting the wrist in
close quarter combat during head taking raids, as well as
offensive purpose, as a blow to any place on an opponent's body
could inflict injury given the spiked surface.
