The Bell
and Dorje are important ritual objects of Tibetan
Buddhism. The detail of these cast metal implements is
aesthetically pleasing and every aspect of their form is
rich with symbolic meaning. The dorje represents the male
principle of skillful means, and the bell represents the
female aspect of supreme wisdom. Their union is the
recurring metaphor for enlightenment. During ceremonies
the left hand rings the bell and the dorje is held in the
right hand.
