Detail Views
This is a fantastic shamanic phurba. It is quite old indeed and
it's hard wood has developed a lustrous smooth patina from
years of ritual use. The phurba deities face is rendered
in a style reminiscent of masks from Nepal's mid-west and
western middle hills area. Intertwined Nagas embellish two
sides of the tripartite blade and the back side of the blade has
important shamanic symbols such as the trisul (trident) and
dhanu or bow - a weapon of ritual subjugation.
