These piece is from one of my favorite stylistic sub-categories
in the Himalayan Shaman phurba genre. This is the bird
phurbas that are such a unique characteristic of the ritual
tools of the shaman of the Gurung and related groups in Nepal's
mid-west middle hills. This is a fine specimen, with
gorgeous patina and an abundance of that intangible quality
called "presence". The fact is, these are rare and usually
I horde them away into my small collection of fine bird phurbas.
I've decided to offer some pieces from personal stash. So,
if you are a collector of fine shaman phurbas... you might want
to give serious consideration to this unique opportunity.
