Detail Views
An exceptional old phurba with lovely patina and faces rendered
with provocative minimalism that is indeed reminiscent of middle
hills masks. The grip features classic
middle hills curvilinear rendering featuring a stylized dorje or
diamond scepter form. The tri-partite blade extends from
Garuda faces - Garuda being the ancient bird god, as important
and prevalent in middle hills Nepal as it is in many other parts
of the world. The blade faces have intertwined Nagas.
Condition is good with expected and indeed desirable signs of
age and use. The top most surface of the phurba deity
faces seems to show some loss - its very worn and it is
impossible to tell what exactly, if anything, may have been on
the top. See detail photos.
