Detail Photos
A nice old wooden
Tibetan prayer flag block printer featuring a Buddha in lotus
position holding a mandala featuring the kailasha or vase of
abundance.
The printing surface is worn and the wood has a nice patina. The
method by which these were traditionally used is for the block
to be covered in ink, the the cloth is placed on to the carved
surface and pressure is applied to the back back of the cloth,
which in turn imparts the image to the front of the cloth.
